Ok, here's the pitch... get ready...
it's a tank game, without tanks... oh I already told you that? Ok, how about this, you're a wizard fighting another wizard with spells and monsters. (ok technically the monsters come from spells, but you get the idea.)
Screen/Display:
You're in a 2D maze (topdown view) with no entrance or exit. (This is not Room-Passage-Room like HA!)
This is arcade style, not turn based (like HA!)
Actions:
- You can move and cast spells.
- Some spells summon monsters (which will wander around and attack the other wizard for you)
- Some spells are offensive (like lightning or fire bolts)
- Some spells are defensive (like shields or walls)
Energy consumption:
- Different spells use different amounts of energy to cast.
- Being attacked by monsters or spells also drains energy.
- Certain powerups will replenish energy
- Once energy hits 0... you die.
Control/Interface:
- Keyboard: Arrow keys, Ctrl & Alt keys
- Gamepad: thumpab and buttons (will this require DX?)
Difficulty:
- as player progresses, enemy wizard will get more energy points to use, and possibly faster.
- possibility of multiple enemy wizards at higher levels
