Chris G. Williams Beware: I mix tech and personal interests here.
So, I went to the Mall of America a couple days ago and they have a huge LEGO store (I think it's called an Imagination Center or something) and was looking at the LEGO Mindstorms NXT kits.

I've played with the VEX kits before, but they don't have any official support with the Microsoft Robotics Studio, although this guy is doing some interesting stuff.

Anyway, so I was looking at the NXT stuff, and I noticed there were a number of accessories available (although apparently they only stocked the main kit.)  Some of this stuff looks pretty cool, and I've definitely been interested in digging into it... although the $250 price tag is a bit daunting.  I mean, I like LEGO and all, but I wouldn't think anything built with this kit would be very sturdy, compared to actually using metal and screws and stuff (aka VEX)

Now, I hear that my buddy Michael Dunn is working up a presentation for Twin Cities Code Camp on Robotics.  You can see more about his project at his blog. He's doing some pretty cool stuff with some serious hardware.

Also, I notice that D'Arcy is scheduled to speak as well.  This years Code Camp should be pretty awesome. Posted on Friday, September 7, 2007 11:28 AM General Interest | Back to top
