David Laribee on Separated Interface Pattern

Sunday, March 30, 2008 5:47 PM

David Laribee recently blogged a great post on the Separated Interface Pattern. (ok, by recent it was Feb 29th, so I'm a month behind...c'mon, been busy!).

Anyway, he has a couple of videos that do a great job explaining the patterns and how they work. The kewl thing is that they're whiteboard based: David holding a camera, drawing on the board, and explaining all at the same time. I liken this to jumping on one foot, rubbing your stomach clock-wise and your head counter-clockwise.

The kewl thing is this format really *WORKS*. I mean, so often when people do webcasts its all about the screen capture and showing code...but this gives a nice spin to being able to explain away the concept and in a way that's easy to understand.

What we really want to know is: WHO IS NIKOLAI?! (That's the benefit of this...you can say crazy stuff that nobody knows whether its true or not...like "Dad...dad, put your pants back on...I'll lock you in the cellar if you don't listen to me! Ok, back to MVC...")

Takeaways from this post:

1. Go to the link above and check out David's videos

2. Go make you own video of you and a whiteboard and post it for the world to see! You don't always need your laptop and fancy capture software to be able to add your voice to the community.

3. Seriously, I was kidding...I don't lock my parents in my basement...there isn't even a door to my basement.
