NWX Forms shim - using HTML5 form types and validation in older browsers
HTML5 makes form creation and validation a simple matter. The new form input types (email, tel, url etc) allow you to give the correct keyboard type to mobile users. The validation model makes the hassle of client-side JavaScript validation a thing of the past. *But hold on a minute though. What do we do if we need to cater for older browsers? You get to the point of creating the db, hit confirm, the page appears to be doing something and then stops and you can't get any further. If you wait you eventually get the 'script timeout error' message. After ......

DimensionsApp - Another tool for testing your responsive designs
As mentioned before there are any number of tools for resizing a desktop browser to see a responsive design in action.Another one I've just been alerted to, (by the Responsive Design Weekly newsletter), is DimensionsApp, an on-line tool that works with Chrome. It lets you resize to broad bands of device widths (Phone, Wide Phone, Tablet etc) and also lets you adjust this finely, showing you the width being used. There is a Preview Mode too, which has outline skins for a number of devices. It's very ......
