One of the great features of Windows Vista is the Snipping tool. It is just about the only redeeming application in Windows Vista.

However when I installed Service Pack 1 The Snipping tool was gone. So a digging I went trying to find the root of the snipping tool to reactivate it.

Here is the how to:

"Go to Control Panel and open Program and Features (you may have to click Programs first). In the task pane on the left, click Turn Windows features on or off. If necessary, click Continue when prompted by User Account Control. Scroll through the list of features, check the box next to Tablet PC Optional Components, and click OK. Turning on these features gives you not only the Snipping Tool, but also the Tablet PC Input Panel, Windows Journal, and other stylus-related features."

Thanks pcworld you saved my Snipping life.

Thank you. It is just bizarre to me that after searching Microsoft sites for an hour there is NO reference or any mention of where to find or reinstall the Snipping Tool. There is fact in no mention anywhere that SP1 blew away the tool. If you search for it in Vista Ultimate it is not even presented as a search result. There are no doubt thousands of people who think this simply useful tool was just removed from their computer. once again continues to not have any sense of what their users do on a day to day basis with their computers. thanks for filling the gaps in their customer servcie.

I tried the foregoing solution with negative results. I get an error that directs me to shut down and restart the computer. I do this and it tells me to seek out my computer administrator which is me.

Incidentally, the check mark for the Tablet PC is still in place. I removed it, restarted, checked the Tablet PC check box and it still didn't work.

Any other thoughts. Thanks in advance. George
